I regularly receive frozen whole roosters for their prized feathers. Do what you need then freeze the bird whole, lei makers on Maui will take those birds off your hands and dispose of. They must be frozen, we dont want their pests and diseases, then place ad on craigslist, you'll get a ton of calls

I've heard of people cooking the wild chickens up but the report was that they were really tough. I wouldn't do it because you never know what these critters are running around with. I believe that the health department in Hawaii encourages people to report sightings of dead chickens because they are capable of carrying diseases.

Grand Cayman island in the Caribbean also seems to have a rooster/chicken problem. We came here 3 months ago and are routinely woken up at 3 or 4 am by crowing roosters. Our neighborhood has only about 25 homes and there must be at least 25 chickens in the neighborhood. I was searching for info and came across your site. Would it be safe to eat a wild rooster or chicken?
